Born in Virginia,
my father took me fishing for brook trout and bass in ponds and
streams. Growing up I developed a passion for fishing and
hunting. At the age of eight my family and I moved to Colorado.
This is where my bass fishing passion really began. Although
most of the fishing in Colorado was for trout there were many
bass ponds near my house. I got hooked the first time bass
fishing when I landed a 7 lb lunker with 6 lb test. That is when
my dream formed to be a professional bass angler. At the age of
sixteen, I joined Centennial Bass Club. That club got me hooked
on tournament fishing and taught me many valuable lessons. I was
cutting my teeth on all the nearby ponds and lakes learning
finesse fishing in clear water, flipping in muddy water, rattle
traps in weedy ponds, and consuming all the knowledge I could
from TV shows, magazines, and books that I could. In fact, I was
awarded 14 master angler awards for bass in the State of
Colorado. After graduating high school I enrolled in
Colorado
State University and started my studies in fishery biology.
After
a year, the bass fishing passion had me only thinking about one
thing, BASS. I was still in the bass club and was leading the
angler of the year points, but I wanted more. My family
supported my dream and moved me to Lake Guntersville, in August
2004, so I could pursue my dream. In the first year I spent over
150 days on the lake, and eat/sleep bass fishing. I have since
caught the biggest bass of my life, several times over, with
three over nine pounds. In 2006, I went through the United
States Coast Guard program and became USCG certified as a
merchant marine officer.
My
dream is to become a professional tournament angler but I
started my guide business so I could fish for a living and teach
others proven tactics on Lake Guntersville. In 2008, I will be
fishing the Bassmaster Southern Opens as well as the ABA Weekend
Series.
I
would like to thank all my clients who have fished with me and
for giving me the opportunity to teach. It has been a very
rewarding experience. I would also like to thank all my sponsors
Kistler Rods, Sunline, and Choo Choo Lures who have helped me
along the way.
